Summary:

An observation of April 26, 1954, in Sare, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, seems to have been widely publicized by the press since I found it in the Turkish newspaper Vatan, of April 28, 1954, quoting a dispatch from the Turkish news agency Anatolia.

It was reported from Bayonne, on April 27, 1954, that on April 26, 1954, a group or persons taking a walk near Sare in the Pyrenean border region observed a cigar-shaped object, traveling rapidly at an altitude of 2000 meters in the direction of Spain.
