The regional newspaper L'Est Républicain for October 26, 1954, reported on page 7 via their correspondent an observation of October 24, 1954, in Arraye-et-Han, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle, by Mr. Germain Mahou, 30, farmer and city council man of Arraye-et-Han.
Around 06:30 p.m., Mr. Mahou, coming from Aulnois, in the Moselle, rode on a bicycle a little-used path and arrived at the place called "Fontaine Brauillon", in the territory of Ajoncourt, less than a kilometer of Arraye-and-Han, when he saw an unusual gleam in the middle of the road.
He dismounted, approached and, to his great surprise, found himself in the presence of a craft, about 2 meters in diameter, about 1 meter 50 in height, resembling, he said to the journalist, a big chicks breeder.
The craft had a fully phosphorescent shell and the lighting around it was quite weak.
No sooner had he pronounced "what is this stuff?", that the machine rose vertically, leaving behind, for a short moment, a luminous trail, then everything faded away.
[Ref. ler1:] NEWSPAPER "L'EST REPUBLICAIN":
(From our correspondent). -- On Sunday night, listening to Radio-Luxembourg's "flying saucers" report, it could be remarked that the declaration of the former Vosges legionnaire, published in the "Republican East" a few days ago, was completely distorted and ridiculed. And yet, almost at the same hour, an inhabitant of our village had just found himself in the presence of a saucer.
Here are the facts: On Sunday evening, around 6:30 p.m., Mr. Germain Mahou, 30, a farmer and councilman from Arraye-et-Han (M.et.M.) coming from Aulnois (the Moselle), was following a deserted pathway on a bicycle and arrived at the place called Fontaine Brauillon, territory of Ajoncourt, less than a kilometer from Arraye, when he perceived an unusual gleam in the middle of the road. Having gone down from the bicycle, Mr. Mahou approached and, to his great surprise, found himself in the presence of an apparatus about two meters in diameter, resembling, he told us, a large chick breeder: the craft, of a height of about 1.50 meters, had an entirely phosphorescent hull and the lighting, around the craft was relatively dim. He had scarcely uttered these words: "What's this thing?" that the apparatus ascended vertically, leaving behind it, for a short moment, a luminous trail, then it disappeared.
The good faith of Mr. Mahou cannot be doubted, for us, any discussion is superfluous, the saucers exist and surely their origin does not have to be sought towards another planet. The mystery must also be elucidated in "high quarters" (without play on words), where one pretends to ignore it for reasons that are not within our jurisdiction.

While he was riding a bicycle on a local dirt track near Arraye-et-Han in the Meurthe-et-Moselle, he saw an odd and phosphorescent machine in the shape of an incubator.
He went down of the bicycle and approached for better seeing, while exclaiming, "what the heck is this darn thing?" and at this time he saw the saucer fly away vertically.

The authors indicate that on 24 [instead of the 25] of October 1954, at 06:30 P.M. in Arraye-et-Han, a farmer and city counselor of the village, Mr. Germain Mahou, which comes from Aulnois, takes an unfrequented side road. He is riding his bicycle. Arrived at the "Fountain-Brouillon" locality, he sees a strange gleam in the middle of the road. He puts a foot on the ground and approaches. He then finds himself in the presence of a craft of 2 meters in diameter resembling "a large chicks feeding machine." The craft is high 1.5 meter high and its carapace is entirely phosphorescent, and it slightly illuminates the neighborhood:
"What's that mess there?" wonders Germain Mahou. At this time, the craft takes off vertically, leaving behind it a short luminous trail.

The two authors indicate that in Arraye et Han in the department of the Meurthe et Moselle, on October 24, 1954 at 06:30 p.m., Mr. Germain Mahou, coming from Aulnois, took a minor road.
Arrived at the locality "Fountaine-Brouillon", he saws in the middle of the roadway a machine resembling large chicken breeder of two meters in diameter on one meter fifty of height.
It was phosphorescent and slightly lightened the neighborhoods.
The object rose vertically while leaving a luminous trail behind itself.
They indicate as sources the catalogue by Jacques Vallée, the book by Garreau and Lavier, and the newspaper France-Soir for October 27, 1954.

ARRAYE-ET-HAN (MEURTHE -ET-MOSELLE : FRANCE)
A local councillor and farmer Germain Mahou (30) was cycling along a country lane, when a place called Fontaine-Brouillon he encountered a strange glow in the road. On approaching he saw it came from something that resembled a giant chicken incubator, 2m in diameter, 1.5m high, its light illuminating the surroundings. It took off leaving a luminous trail.

Note: "Gross 1954" is supposed to be my web page, no link is given and its content is not properly reflected.
This could be an extraterrestrial craft. But the report lacks precision: was the craft silent or not? How far from the witness was it?
So one may also argue that it was a helicopter, or a meteor on the horizon.
