Summary:

In a 1965 article in the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit, evoking what he calls "cloud-cigars", ufologist Aimé Michel indicated that during the wave of 1954 in France one was seen on September 12, 1954 (obviously a wrong date) in Arpajon.

In the 2000s, a German ufology database on the Web indicated twice that on September 22, 1954, at 07:30 p.m., in Arpajon, a "nocturnal light" was seen.

No other information, nor any source, was given.

Such is the great cloud-cigar. It has, as I have said, been described a great many times in identical terms and in all countries of the world. In France, it was seen during the wave of 1954 very near Paris: in the night of August 22 to 23 in Vernon, and the evening of September 12, around 19 h. 30, in broad daylight, by a crowd of witnesses from south of Paris, at Saint-Chéron, at Arpajon, on national road 7, at Chailly-en-Bière, etc. The description is always the same.

"Vast luminous object."

[... Other cases...]

The vast luminous object arrived over Arpajon just moments later [than 07:30 p.m.] and was spotted by a Mme. Chatelin. Again the report is very brief.

Explanations:

Map.

Aimé Michel has the date wrong: the numerous observations in the Southe of Paris were certainly not on September 12, but on September 22.

The case is perhaps a duplicate: it would be the observation at La Norville, in which Arpajon had been mentioned as the place where the object would be.

Anyway, a number of observations were reported for this date, this hour and this area, whose descriptions also make me think it was a meteor.
