Summary:

The US pioneering ufologist Donald Keyhoe reported in his 1973 book, that in 1954, a French test pilot for the Fouga plane manifacturer saw a circular machine over the city of Pau. As it climbed toward him, a blow of heat hit him. On the verge of losing consciousness, he dove to a cooler air. The UFO made no attempt to follow him down.

A small problem here is that it actually happened in 1953.

A test pilot for the Fouga Aircraft Company of Pau, in the Lower Pyrenees tried to approach a UFO which was hovering near the city. He was forced to turn his aircraft away because of the intense heat which built up in the cockpit.

Explanations:

The date is in error: it is said to have happened in 1953. (cf. Jimmy Guieu, "Black-out sur les soucoupes volantes.")
