In his 1997 book on the French wave of 1954, Jean Sider indicated that there was a case on October 17, 1954, at 09:30 p.m., in Liglet in the department of Vienne, reported in the newspaper Le Libre Poitou for October 20, 1954, in these words:
"Mr. André Roche, driver, was at the wheel of his bus, on the Poitiers-Liglet line. He suddenly saw a luminous ball of white color followed with a tail of greenish colour, which seemed to start from ground. The phenomenon took the direction of St Hilaire sur Bénaize (Indre) after having risen at a vertiginous pace, to get lost in space."
