The CNEGU indicates that their case number F/98/88/541016 (04) in "Le Tholloy" has as witness: Mr Victor Giroux, and that the source is an article of La Liberté de l'Est for November 5, 1954, whose entire text is:

"Mr. Victor GIROUX stated to us that he also saw on last 16 October, being at the crossroads of the war memorial where the visibility is very clear, a luminous sphere of a diameter of 10 cm coming from LE THOLLOY and moving towards BELRUPT leaving behind itself a trail of the same width but not touching directly the apparatus. This phenomenon lasted 15 second. Mr. GIROUX is a rural policeman, an old man who does not have anything of a young pranksters as there are some, claims that there was no comparison between the produced phenomenon and a comet or a meteor."
