In their 1979 book, the "skeptical" ufologists Gérard Barthel and Jacques Brucker laconically indicate that the case of October 14, 1954, at 8 p.m. in Brienne is a hoax according to their investigation.
Just after, again in 1979, we learn a little more by Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon: in Brienne, on October 14, 1954, around 08:00 p.m., a dark egg-shaped elongated craft surmounted by a cupola was seen by an anonymous person, resting on a sort of tripod of 60 cm. It was 4 meters in diameter and 2 meters high. A normal-sized human shape was in front of the craft and it seemed that the dome was also occupied. The witness wanted to approach and was paralyzed. The craft left towards la Rothière.
They indicated that the source for this case is the newspaper Est-Eclair for October 16, 1954.
Later, Michel Figuet would indicate that the case was elucidated as a hoax by Barthel and Brucker.
In 1997, Jean Sider, referring to L'Est-Eclair, wrote that on October 14, 1954, at 08:00 p.m., between Crespy and Vienne, and 2 km from Vienne, in the Aube, Mr. Emile Collet (the witness was not anonymous) was riding a bicycle, when he saw an elongated egg-shaped apparatus with a dome resting on a tripod. When he wanted to approach the machine, he was paralyzed.
The "skeptical" ufologist Renaud Leclet then indicates, in 1999, that "the case presents similarities with a helicopter."
The version of Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon would be published again and again.

New October 14. 1954 2000 Brienne (Aube), France Type B/A
An unidentified witness saw an object on the ground, like an elongated egg, dark in color and with a cupola atop. A figure of normal height appeared in front of him (or it--the object), and he could see a second figure inside the cupola. He tried to approach but found himself paralysedj the figure got in and the object took off in the direction of Rothiere.
This case is one of those considered "douteux" (doubtful) by French researchers.

On October 14, 1954, at 8 p.m., near Brienne-le-Château, a person observes a dark-colored craft, shaped like an elongated egg, surmounted by a dome, which rests on a kind of 60 cm tripod. The machine is 4 meters in diameter and 2 meters high. A humanoid form, of normal size, is in front of it. A second one seems to be standing inside the dome. The witness tries to approach. He has a temporary paralysis.
This is another very poorly documented case, with an explanation by Barthel and Brucker without any details or circumstances.
A helicopter, a hoax, an extraterrestrial craft? Impossible to decide with the slightest certainty...
