The regional newspaper La Voix du Nord, in the local issue for Lille for October 16, 1954, reported that in this city, the place Jean-Jaurès had been in turmoil on the morning of October 13 1954: a few dozen people had their noses in the air, observing something strange moving in the sky, which gave, with the sun and according to its position, blue and purple reflections. This "thing" which looked like a glider, was at a rather high altitude and seemed to want to take as a landmark the Hennequin square.
To the surprise of the spectators, the "craft" descended vertically and landed on the roof of the Michelet school. A few people got emboldened and approached and then realized that the "craft" was... a superb Muscovy duck.

A few dozen people, with their noses in the air, observed something strange moving in the sky, which gave, with the sun and according to its position, blue and purple reflections. This "thing" which looked like a glider, was at a rather high altitude and seemed to want to take as a landmark the square of Hennequin.
Suddenly, to the surprise of the spectators, the "craft" descended vertically and landed on the roof of the Michelet school. Some people emboldened, approached and then distinguished... a superb Muscovy duck!!!
The duck, after a night spent at its landing place, finally decided to return home to the great joy of its owner who hastened to punish him for his escapade, by cutting his wings.
This news item, believe it, is not a lame duck...
