The "skeptical" ufologists Gérard Barthel and Jacques Brucker indicated in their 1979 book on the "great Martian scare" of 1954 in France, that the newspaper La Vendée Libre for November 14, 1954, had reported that early in the morning in Aizenay, despite a thick fog, many inhabitants had been intrigued by "the moves of a mysterious machine which launched gleams sometimes yellow, sometimes of a bright red color."
In 2006, a local ufology website gave the likely date for this sighting as November 11, 1954.
[Ref. bbr1:] GERARD BARTHEL AND JACQUES BRUCKER:
The two authors quote the newspaper "La Vendée Libre" for November 14, 1954:
"Early the morning in Aizenay, in spite of a thick fog, many residents were puzzled by the evolutions of a mysterious machine which sometimes launched yellow gleams, sometimes sharp red gleams."

The website's author found this observation in Barthel and Brucker's book and notes the following:

In his case listing "UFOs in the Vendée", the author notes this case:
Aizenay, La Roche-sur-Yon, Les Sables, 11 November 1954
The "mysterious craft" could really have been anything; there is simply not enought information to decide.
