A top-secret film made nearly 50 years ago by the US military showing "a dead alien" will be shown in Britain this summer to an international audience of UFO enthusiasts.
The 91-minute film was shot in 1947 in the New Mexico desert by members of the US Air Force after a flying saucer crashed, according to Philip Mantle of the British UFO Research Association. It was a former American military cameraman, now aged 82, who had made a copy of the film and gave it to an English documentary filmmaker he met in the United States, Ray Santilli.
According to Mr Mantle, the film shows at one point scientists performing an autopsy on a dead "creature" believed to be an extraterrestrial. Another section of the film, shot in black and white and in 16 mm, shows debris from the saucer, which is said to have been made of an indestructible material.
"The film has already been examined by Kodak who confirmed that it is 50 years old and we now intend to have it examined by university experts," said Philip Mantle. According to him, it has never been shown in public anywhere in the world and its future screening is already arousing "intense interest". The screening will take place in August at the University of Sheffield as part of a two-day conference expected to bring together 500 UFO experts from around the world.
