Florence. -- Two "Martians" aboard a "flying saucer" where they had hoisted him, are said to have announced to a young Tuscan tailor the imminent delivery of a "message for humanity". This is the story that Mr. Mario Zuccala, 27, a tailor in Cerbaia, near Florence, told first to his wife, then to the carabinieri.
On Tuesday evening, after spending the evening with a friend, Mr. Zuccala was returning home along the cemetery. He suddenly felt a very strong draft behind him and turned around. Paralyzed by surprise and fright, he saw - according to his words - a "flying saucer" with a diameter of about ten meters, smooth and metallic white, suspended in the air a few meters above the ground. A sort of metal cylinder detached itself from the device and landed. From a door, through which an intense glow appeared, two "strange beings, resembling men but about 1.50 m tall", came out and, Mr. Zuccala claims, approached him. Their heads were covered with helmets. The two "Martians" lifted the tailor and took him inside the saucer, where, in a deep voice, seeming to come out of an amplifier, one of them said to him: "At the end of the fourth moon, around 1:00 in the morning, we will return to give you a message for humanity".
Without remembering the rest of the adventure, Mr. Zuccala claims to have found himself in front of his house. His wife opened the door, reproaching him for knocking too hard, even though he claimed not to have touched the door.
Seeing her husband's distraught face and his visible fear, Mrs. Zuccala called her brother, who advised Mario to go and tell the carabinieri the story of his "encounter".
