MONTPELLIER

Unidentified luminous object in the sky

A "yellow-green luminous object" was reported to the Aix-en-Provence air navigation center by two airline pilots who reported having crossed paths with it in the sky above Montpellier on Monday at 9:00 a.m. The radars in the Aix-en-Provence control room were unable to confirm the pilots' report, the same source said, specifying that they only receive signals from aircraft equipped with suitable flight instruments.

Two pilots, one from Air France and the other from TAT, reported having come across, at an altitude of 11,000 metres near Montpellier, a "yellow-green glow" that they were unable to identify. This report, which did not compromise the safety of the flight because there was no dangerous approach, was the subject of an incident report by civil aviation. This type of incident, which is not recorded frequently, is "systematically the subject of a small investigation".
