Lisa Moxness Vestli, who lives just beside Abrua to the east of Tynset, who discovered the "candy" in the sky at about 9.25pm on Monday 18 February 1985. She caught sight of the strange phenomenon in the bright, starry winter sky: the temperature being below -30 degrees Centigrade. The object hovered motionless for almost half an hour before it disappeared in the direction of Folldal.

Tynset is a rather small country community, situated high in the Gud-brandsdalen valley, in the central regions of southeastern Norway.

Lisa herself has no explanation for the phenomenon. She has never seen anything like it before, nor have the three children in the house: Anders Martin Korslund Nordli, Ingun Bjoerge and Kjetil Bjoerge. These children were spending their winter holiday at Tynset, and have obviously had an experience they will not soon forget.

A cigarshaped UFO

The strange phenomenon was shaped as a cigar, though more straight on the lower than on the upper side. It was divided into several patches of colour: green, red-orange, red and green once more. At the upper right and below left one could see some strange protrusions.

Most strange, however, were some beams of light which were "shot down" from the object intermittently. These were rather thin, resembling lightning; however, they were completely straight. The beams protruded alternately from both left and right, and were slightly inclined to the ground. They flashed so rapidly that one couldn't see them if one blinked at the same moment.

[Sketch caption:] This is how the UFO looked like, say the four witnesses. Arrows indicate the direction of the thin light beams.

25 minutes observing time

After having studied the UFO from outside the house, Lisa went inside and observed it together with the three others. Suddenly it descended, and then hurtled through the air towards the west. The UFO disappeared at 9.50 pm; very quickly and without any detectable sound. The witnesses won't estimate its absolute size, for the surroundings were completely dark and hence it was difficult to estimate the distance; however, it must have been very big. Both Lisa and the reporting newspaper "Arbeidets Rett" wonder if there were any other witnesses to this phenomenon.
