A US ufology source with dubious credibility reported that near Santiago, Chile, on August 23, 1978, at an unspecified jour, a young motorist reportedly suffered a nervous breakdown as he encountered several tall humanoids with human features and wearing helmets, standing on the roadway.
It is claimed that two other motorists "also reported seeing similar beings".

[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:
The website indicates that on 23 August 1978 in Santiago, Chile, "A young motorist reportedly suffered a nervous breakdown as he encountered several tall humanoids with human features and wearing helmets standing on the roadway. Two other motorists also reported seeing similar beings. No other information."
The source indication is a broken link.
"MARCEN" stood for Mutual Anomaly Research Center and Evaluation Network, a (self-proclaimed) "UFO investigation and research group" founded in the 1970s by Willard F. McIntyre, at Sandy Spring, Maryland, USA.
There are numerous stories and hoaxes in which Mr. Willard F. McIntyre was involved, notable the "Laredo crash", "Tomato Man", the "Steinman affair" and according to the satirical ufology bullein Saucer Smear for June 25, 2001, his last claim was about NIDS getting a "vision" about free energy at the infamous Utah Ranch they investigated: Saucer Smear editor established that Willard F. McIntyre did not even really know what people were in this NIDS project.
In short, this case may be entirely invented by "MARCEN".
Is there more to say? Yes.
