JANUARY 1977, PROVINCE OF HUANACO, PERU, JOSE ALVAREZ:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

At least one foreign newspaper reported on January 15, 1977, a story from Peru, according to which an search party is scheduled to leave Lima in the week for the high basin of Amazonia in order to check the claims of Jose Alvarez, a 20-year-old student, who stated that mysterious "little green men" had saved him from drowning.

He moved towards a river in the province of Huanaco, 420 km in the east of Lima, to get some water, when he fell into a marsh. In spite of his efforts, he could not get out of there and had lost all hopes to come out alive when suddenly, four small beings appeared. Utrering growls and making gestures, they handed out some branches to him, with which they dragged him to firm grounds.

Alvarez said that he then fainted from exhaustion and that when he came back to consciousness, his rescuers had disappeared. He described them as less than 3 feet tall, the body covered of green scales and having hands with three clawed fingers.

The student had told all that on a radio show called "Interplanetary Contacts", and the search party was to be lead by Carlos Paz Garcia, president of the "Peruvian Institute of Interplanetary Relations", who was the host of that radio program.

Hunt for the little green men

An expedition is to leave Lima this week for the high basin of Amazonia in order to check the claims of a student who said that mysterious "little green men" saved him from drowning. José Alvarez, a 20-year-old student, told during a radio program called "Interplanetary Contacts" his weird experience. He was moving towards a river in the province of Huanaco, in 420 km north of Lima, to get some water, when he fell into a marsh. "In spite of my efforts, I could not get out of it and I had lost all hopes to survive when, suddenly, four small beings appeared. Uttering growls and gesticulating, they held branches to me that allowed me drew to pull myself back on firm ground".

Alvarez claims that it then fainted of exhaustion and that when he was conscious again, his saviors had disappeared. "They were less than one meter tall, the body covered of green scales and their hands had three fingers with claws."

The expedition will be lead by Mr. Carlos Paz Garcia, president of the Peruvian Institute of Interplanetary Relations and host of the radio program.

[Ref. jb1:] JANET AND COLIN BORD:

These British authors specialized in the weird stories indicate that in January 1977, in the province of Huanaco in Peru, late in the afternoon, a young student had fallen into a marsh and was helped out by four scaly 3-feet-tall creatures, having three fingers at each hand. The small creatures handed out branches towards the student, so that he could get out of the marsh.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in the Huanaco Province of Peru, on early January 1977, late in the afternoon, in a wooded area, a young student had fallen into a bog was unexpectedly helped out by four three-foot tall greenish scaly creatures with three fingers in each hand that held out branches to him.

Albert Rosales specifies: "No object [UFO] was reported. No other information."

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Janet and Colin Bord, Unexplained Mysteries of the 20th Century.

Points to consider:

The case only amounts to a story told on the radio by a young student, without any further information or known corroboration. There is little sense in relating it to the question of UFOs.
