OCTOBER 1, 1965, AGUAS BLANCAS, SALTA, ARGENTINA, SANTOS VALLEJOS, ANTONIA APARTI, ADELA SANCHEZ:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

It seems that on October 5, 1965, Buenos Aires newspaper Cronica reported about an occurence apparently dated October 1, 1965 by the argentinean ufology group CODOVNI.

In Aguas Blancas, province of Salta, North-West Argentina, schoolboy Santos Vallejos and two girls, Antonia Aparti and Adela Sanchez, were on their way to their school Libertador General San Martin when, at a place where the road runs through wooded hills, they noticed "several creatures of short stature, greenish skin, and only remotely resembling human beings."

These creatures tried to catch the children, who fled in terror to the school, where they told their story to the headmaster.

Narratives:

[Ref. gc1:] GORDON CREIGHTON:

The British ufologist indicates that in Salta, Northern Argentina, on or about October 4, 1965, a schoolboy, Santos Vallejos, and two schoolgirls, Antonia Aparti and Adela Sanchez, were on their way to the Libertador General San Martin School) when, at a place where the road runs through wooded hills, they noticed "several creatures of short stature, greenish skin, and only remotely resembling human beings."

These creatures tried to catch the children, who fled in terror to the school, where they told their story to the headmaster.

Gordon Creighton indicates that the source is "La Cronica Matutina", of Buenos Aires, on October 5, 1965.

[Ref. jv1:] JACQUES VALLEE:

In his catalogue of UFO landings, Jacques Vallée indicates that on October 1, 1965, in Aguas Blancas, Argentina, three students, Santos Vallejos, Antonia Aparti, and Adela Sanchez, who were walking to General San Martin School, were attacked by small creatures with greenish skin. The children ran away, and arrived at the school in a state of terror.

Vallée indicates that his source is "CODOVNI."

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Santiago De Estero, Salta, Argentina, in October 4, 1965, in the morning, three schoolchildren, Santos Vallejo, Antonia Aparti and Adela Sanchez, were on their way to school when, passing through a wooded hill, they encountered "several creatures of short stature, greenish skin, and only remotely resembling human beings," who tried to catch them; they fled in terror to the school.

Albert Rosales indicates as source "Humcat 1965-59" and "The Humanoids by Hanlon".

[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:

This website indicates that on October 4, 1965 at 08:00, in Santiago De Estero, Salta, Argentina, three schoolchildren, Santos Vallejo, Antonia Aparti and Adela Sanchez, were on their way to school when, passing through a wooded hill, they encountered "several creatures of short stature, greenish skin, and only remotely resembling human beings," who tried to catch them; they fled in terror to the school.

The source appears as a link pointing at a non-existing web page.

Points to consider:

Aguas Blancas is a city of the department of Oran in the state of Salta and probably the correct location, given by Jacques Vallée from a ufological source, CODOVNI, as well as the date of October 1, 1965. Creighton does specify that the date is not October 4 but "on or about October 4", probably quite simply because the newspaper he uses as source is dated October 5 and probably did not give an exact date. The location "Santiago de Estero, Salta" given by Albert Rosales and "UFOdna" is erroneous, Santiago de Estero is the capital city of the state of the same name, and Salta is the capital of the state of Salta.

It appears that Jacques Vallée recorded the case as being a UFO landing whereas no UFO is reported.

The data available to me is too sparse particularly about the description of the beings, it cannot be excluded that the children were frightened by normal people rather than aliens.
