DECEMBER 1957, SNYDERS LAKE, NEW YORK, USA, L. ROBINSON:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Surviving as meager summaries in the skeptical ufology literature, a story of unclear origin apparently from 1959 tells about one Mr. L. Robinson, whom in December 1957, in Snyders Lake, New York, drove on Route 66 at night in the rain, and saw an object fall into that Lake.

It is said that he investigated and noticed a blue light being given off from a small semi-circular object. A bluish-gold light flashed three times and three men of normal height appeared, they wore golden suits radiating changing colors.

One of them is said to have approached and talked to Robinson in "perfect English" for three hours, then these men left.

[Ref. bh1:] ROBERT E. BARTHOLOMEW AND GEORGE S. HOWARD:

The authors indicate that on December 1957, in Snyders Lake, New York, at night, driving on Route 66 in the rain, Mr. L. Robinson saw an object fall into Snyders Lake.

He investigated and noticed a blue light being given off from a small semi-circular object. A bluish-gold light flashed three times and three men of normal height appeared, they wore golden suits radiating changing colors.

One of them approached and talked to Robinson in "perfect English" for three hours, then these men left.

The authors indicate that the sources are the Metempirical UFO Bulletin (MUFOB), 14, no. 48 (Spring 1979): 10, citing UFO Critical Bulletin ill 2: 5., and also, Saucers, Space and Science (March 1959).

They note that the account appears in MUFOB as part of Peter Rogerson's international catalogue of "type 1" UFO records.

Points to consider:

The only source which is available to me is meager in information; however it is about one single and unidentifiable witness describing men, one of them speaking perfect English, and a three hours long speech with no detail on the contents of this conversation. It probably amounts to the usually silly "alien message" and a minor "contactee" tale which did not have much success, obviously, except in the skeptical ufology literature.
