On December 21, 1955, around 11:00 p.m. EST, in Caribou, Maine, USA, Roberta Vesta Jacobs, a young housewife, observed an unusual object low over her farmyard for 6 to 8 minutes when she was turning of her lights to go to bed. There was no stars or moon in the sky.
She stated that the shape of the object was like a cup turned upside down on a saucer. The flat saucer part seemed to be spinning fast, the "cup" part was described as like a half moon. The color was like nothing she had ever seen, and the best comparison she provided was that it was like pure gold. She said the object was about the size of a jet plane.
Between the flat bottom part and the half-moon top, she distinguished something "alive"; she could not see any form or outline, but it was like a person walking in front of a light with hurried movements.
She felt as though "they" had a telescope or something pointed at her, and she felt nauseated.
It seems the object maneuvered: it was first seen as a red-orange glare in the sky, then as golden object when it came to hover over the barn, and it then departed fast.
The US Air Force UFO investigation team "Project Blue Book" recorded the case as having no ordinary explanation.

This ufologist indicates that on December 21, 1955, around 11:00 p.m. EST, in Caribou, Maine, Roberta Vesta Jacobs, a young housewife, observed an unusual object low over her farm yard for 6 to 8 minutes while she was turning of her lights to go to bed. There was no stars or moon in the sky. Moving shadows were seen inside the lower portion of the object's dome.
She stated:
"The shape was like a cup turned upside down on a saucer. ... The color was like nothing I have ever seen, pure gold would be as close as I could say ... I could see the flat bottom part going around and around real fast..."
"Between the flat bottom part and the half-moon top there was something 'alive.' ... I couldn't see any form or outline, but it was like a person walking in front of a light ... like hurried movements."
"I felt as though 'they' had a telescope or something pointed at me..."

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Caribou, Maine, on December 21, 1955, at 11:00 p.m., about to go to bed, Mrs. Roberta Jacobs saw a red orange glare in the sky, and a golden object came to hover over the barn. It resembled a cup inverted on an elliptical saucer, about the size of a jet plane; the disc rotated at high speed. In the lower part of the dome she could see forms moving. "Like a person walking in front of a light - not one but many things." She felt nauseated, and felt that they were observing her. The object rapidly departed.

Being given that there was an evaluation or even an investigation by the US Air Force, which did not provide an ordinary explanation, while at the same time the majority of the cases with reported occupants were quickly called "psychological", it is unfortunate that there isn't more information available on the case, notably in the US Air Force file.
