SEPTEMBER 16, 1955, BOISSEUGES, HAUTE-LOIRE, FRANCE, MR. FRIGOUL:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

A report unknown origin appeared in the ufological literature in end of the Sixties, telling that on September 16, 1955, at 6 p.m., near Boisseuges, in Haute-Loire, France, on the commune of Chavagniac-Lafayette, close to the Saint-Eble mount, a young shepherd, Mr. Frigoul, saw a dark mass fall down from the sky, he heard a whistling sound, and was thrown to the ground by a violent gust of air.

The youngster said that it was a craft about 3.50 meters in diameter or length or width, by 2 meters in height, that it was lighted as with neon light, that there was an opening from where a kind of scale or staircase appeared.

Two occupants came down from there. One of them had a bald head, with a red face and very small teeth. They picked up some plants, reinstated their apparatus; which took off in direction of the North-West or the North-East.

No investigation was carried out.

[Ref. jv1:] JACQUES VALLEE:

In his catalogue of UFO landings, Jacques Vallée indicates that on September 16, 1955, at 06:00 p.m. in Boisseuges France, a young shepherd heard a whistling sound as a dark mass appeared to fall from the sky and a rush of air swept him from his feet. The object looked like a machine with an opening where a stairway became visible. Two occupants were seen. One was observed to have a reddish face, a bald head and very fine teeth. The craft was round, about 3.5 m diameter, 2 meters high, lighted with neon-like light. The occupants gathered some plants and flew away to the northwest.

Vallée indicates that his source is "Personal."

[Ref. gl1:] CHARLES GARREAU AND RAYMOND LAVIER:

The authors indicate that on September 16, 1955, in Boisseuges, in the Haute-Loire, on the community of Chavagniac-Lafayette, close to the Saint-Eble mount, a young shepherd saw a dark mass "fall from the sky", he heard a whistling sound and was thrown to the ground by a violent displacement of air.

Two occupants came down from the apparatus by a kind of scale. One of them was bald, with a red face and very small teeth.

The young shepherd said that their apparatus measured about 3.50 meters in diameter by 2 meters in height, and was lighted "as with neon."

The two occupants gathered some plants, went to their craft, which took off in direction of the North-West.

the authors indicate that the source is the Vallée catalogue, #375, L.D.L.N. for February 1970.

[Ref. hd1:] HENRI DURRANT:

The author indicates that in Boisseuges, in France, on September 16, 1955, a strange whistling sound caught the attention of a young shepherd, who saw a dark mass come down from the sky. A violent gust of air made him fall. The apparatus was 3.50 m long and 2 meters in height.

The author indicates that the story is an extract of the Charles Garreau book "Face aux Extra-terrestres", pages 123 and 124.

[Ref. fr1:] MICHEL FIGUET AND JEAN-LOUIS RUCHON:

The authors indicate that on September 16, 1955, at 6 p.m. in Boisseuges, close to the Saint-Elbe Mount, Mr. Frigoul, a shepherd, saw a mass fall down from the sky while producing a whistling sound and a strong displacement of an air volume which threw him on the ground. The UFO is described as being an apparatus of 3.50 meters in diameter by 2 meters in height, which was lighted like "a fluorescent tube." It had an opening where a staircase was visible.

Mr. Frigoul saw two occupants, one of them was bald-headed, with a red face and very small teeth (sic); these two beings collected some plants before joining their craft which took off in direction of the North-East.

The authors specify that no investigation was carried out.

They note that for many cases, witnesses and the investigators compare the lighting emitted by UFOs with "neon" light, which is completely inadequate because "neon shines slightly in red", while the fluorescent lighting of the tubes excited by the mercury vapor (public and private lighting) is white (more or less tinted), and shining, and that it is this that the witnesses refer to when they say "neon."

The authors indicate that the sources are the Vallée Catalogue, case 375; C. Garreau and R. Lavier, Face aux extra-terrestres, page 67; Spécial Info-OVNI, Catalogue d'Observations, Atterrissages en Auvergne.

[Ref. mf1:] MICHEL FIGUET:

Michel Figuet indicates via his Francat listing in an extract about the very dubious cases that there was a CE3 in Boisseuges, France, on September 16, 1955, commenting that the information is meager and that there was no investigation.

[Ref. go1:] GODELIEVE VAN OVERMEIRE:

The ufologist indicates that on September 16, 1955 around 6 p.m., close to Boisseuges in France, a strange whistling sound drew the attention of young shepherd Mr. Frigoul, who saw a mass sink down from the sky. A violent air gust made him fall. The apparatus was 3.50 m long and 2 m in height and resembled a machine with an opening where he saw a staircase. There were two occupants, one of them had a red face, a bald head and very small teeth. They picked up some plants and flew away towards the North-West.

The sources are indicated as Jacques Vallée, "Chronique des apparitions E.T." Denoel 1972, J'ai Lu collection, pages 294 and 295; and Henry Durrant, "Le dossier des OVNI", Laffont, 1973, page 72.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Boisseuges, France, on September 16, 1955, at 1800, a young shepherd heard a whistling sound and a dark mass appeared to fall from the sky, with a rush of air that swept him from his feet. The object looked like a machine, with an opening where a stairway became visible. 2 occupants were seen; one had a reddish face, a baldhead, and a row of white very fine teeth. The craft was round, about 11 ft in diameter and 6 ft high, lighted with neon-like light. The occupants gathered some plants and the craft flew away.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia, and Humcat 1955-24.

[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:

The website indicates that on September 16, 1955, at 18:00, in Boisseuges, France, one round object, about 10 feet across, was observed by one male witness for a few minutes:

A young shepherd heard a whistling sound and a dark mass appeared to fall from the sky, with a rush of air that swept him from his feet.

The website comments that the report is attributed to a known source of unknown or uncalibrated reliability, that there was no site visit, or answer unknown, and that a natural explanation requires major alteration of several parameters.

The sources are listed as being Webb, David, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports; Vallee, Jacques, Computerized Catalog (N = 3073); Vallee, Jacques, A Century of Landings (N = 923) Chicago, 1969; Delaire, J. Bernard, UFO Register Volume 7 (1976), Data Research, Oxford, 1976; Rosales, Albert S., Humanoid Contact Database; Hatch, Larry, *U* computer database, Redwood City, 2002.

Points to consider:

The list of issues below shows enough that the case of apparent high strangeness does not offer any indication of credibility.
