July 6, 1947, Chickamauga Creek, Tennessee, USA, W. D. Secrest:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Via the US ufology historical research group "Project 1947", focused on year 1947, it surface that in Chickamauga Creek, Tennessee, on July 6, 1947, at 02:00 p.m., W. D. Secrest was hunting turtles in a creek when he saw three flying disc shaped objects over the area. Scared, at first he hid behind a tree.

He then noticed one of the discs descend and hover over a nearby field. He was able to obtain a good look at the object and was able to see a cockpit with two pilot-like figures inside as the object tilted. He also noted a black hump behind the cockpit, which he believed housed the engines.

The other two discs remained high in the air, while the lower disc apparently surveyed the field. It suddenly zoomed upward, took a leading position in front of the other two discs and all three took off at incredible speed.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Chickamauga Creek, Tennessee, on July 6, 1947, at 02:00 p.m., W. D. Secrest was hunting turtles in a creek when he saw three flying disc shaped objects over the area. Scared at first he hid behind a tree.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Project 1947.

Points to consider:

In the brief summary, nothing is said about the presence and absence of noise.

While the craft are described as discs, they were possibly not literally disks, the witness describing "a black bump behind the cockpit".

Thus, nothing in the report makes it possible to exclude that the witness saw a group of helicopters, probably of Bell 47 type, craft that were not very widely known at that time.

Bell 47

Bell 47 helicopter.
Two pilots in a cockpit and
"... a black hump behind the cockpit, which he believed housed the engines".
