ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Harthouse, on September 15, 2019:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2019-09-15-HARTHOUSE-1

Summary:

A young man from Batzendorf in the Bas-Rhin regularly communicates his observations of what he thinks are, or may be, UFOs, to the ufological forum "Les Mystères des OVNI."

On September 15, 2019, he communicates an observation he made that day at 2:10 p.m., when in Harthouse in the Bas-Rhin he observed for 10 minutes through the window "a strange stationary white ball," which seemed very high in the sky. He hadn't seen it coming.

It was stationary but after about ten minutes it started to move slowly, then was obscured by a tree.

The witness took several photos, on which we can only see a small dot.

A guest of the forum rapidly demonstrated that it was one of the balloons of the Swiss hot air balloon "Gordon Bennett" race. The path of each balloon being documented on the Internet, he was able to show that it was the balloon of Kurt Frieden and Pascal Witpraechtiger which on September 15, 2019 at 2:02 p.m. was at 48° 49.39 N, 7° 46.94 E, at an altitude of 2474 m.
