The magazine indicates that in "Ensisheim, formerly free imperial city and formerly capital of the Archduke of Austria regency of the Front Countries of Austria, or History of the city of Ensisheim with specifics about the most memorable events that happened in Alsace" by the Abbott Merklen, it is told that a memory of the fall of the meteorite of Ensisheim exists as writings in the old church of the city, saying:
"It two months we saw
Two various prodigies:
In one fell from the sky, this
Terrifying Stone
And it was next seen three suns
In the airs.
This is how the sky, to mortals
favorable,
Y a secret inclination, it ins righteous furor,
Enjoys in showing parts of its gentleness."

About two weeks later (November 23, 1492), [...] in Ensisheim.
Then later, another inscription in Latin, French and German. The French translation said: "In two months, we have seen two different prodigies in one fell from the sky this chilling stone. And we saw in the next one three suns in the sky. This is how the sky, to mortals by a secret inclination in its righteous fury, likes to show us the traits of its sweetness. This stone fell from the sky on Nov. 7, 1492"!

Former journalist Christian Valentin published in 2012 a very interesting book telling the story of UFO sightings, flying saucers sightings, in Alsace, from the beginning to 1980.
In this book, he reports that in the book "History of the Town of Ensisheim" by Abbott Merklen, of this city, published in 1840, the author states on page 208 that in the front of the choir of the parish church, which was destroyed since, there were inscription in Latin, German and French on two phenomena, including the fall of the famous meteorite Ensisheim:
"In two months we saw two different prodigies:
In one fell from the sky this terrifying stone
And in the next one, one saw three suns in the airs
This is how the sky, to mortals favorable,
By a secret inclination, in its righteous furor,
Enjoys in showing parts of its gentleness."
About the "three suns", Christian Valentin notes that this could have been due to the reflection of the sun on ice crystals suspended in the cloud layer.

A "parhelia" (in French"), from ancient Greek "para", "near" and "helios," the Sun, is a phenomenon visible to the eye in which two replicas of the Sun are seen horizontally on both sides of the Sun, often with a circular halo (photos below). It is often described in old chronicles as an appearance of "three suns".

The phenomenon is also called "false sun", "Double Sun", "eye of the goat" in French, or "triple sun" or "sundogs".
The phenomenon occurs when the sun is rather low on the horizon and there are ice crystals in of high altitude clouds (cirrus or cirrostratus).
