ACUFO:

ACUFO is my comprehensive catalog of cases of encounters between aircraft and UFOs, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ACUFO catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file.

Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA, on June 1944:

Case number:

ACUFO-1944-06-01-LOSALAMOS-1

Summary:

The American ufologist Peter Davenport set up in the 2000s a website, the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), allowing people to submit, anonymously or not, their testimony of UFO sightings, which were then recorded in a database and visible on this website.

There is a testimony received in 2009 about a sighting said to have occurred at the approximate date of June 1, 1944, at noon local time, in Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA.

Someone said that his uncle worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos during the 1940s and told him of this incident shortly before he died several years ago.

The atory is that one day, a bright silvery disk was observed in the sky hovering over the facility and a plane was immediately dispatched from Kirtland Field to intercept and identify the object. As the plane approached, the disk ascended upward out of its range.

A second larger plane with a higher operational ceiling was then sent up to continue the pursuit, and again the disk ascended upward until it disappeared.

It is said that apparently, this incident was witnessed by a number of the facility staff, that the incident laster more than 1 hour.

Disk hovers over Los Alamos during the development of the atomic bombs; pursued by planes.

My uncle worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos during the 1940s and told me of this incident shortly before he died several years ago.

One day, a bright silvery disk was observed in the sky hovering over the facility and a plane was immediately dispatched from Kirtland Field to intercept and identify the object. As the plane approached, the disk ascended upward out of its range.

Apparently, this incident was witnessed by a number of the facility staff.

NUFORC Note:

Source of report indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD

Aircraft information:

No precise information was provided on the alleged two involved aircraft.

Discussion:

Map.

It is obvious that anyone can concoct a scenario like this and send it to NUFORC; no verification or investigation having taken place, the story remains of unknown credibility.

Evaluation:

Unknown credibility, insufficient information.
