ACUFO:

ACUFO is my comprehensive catalog of cases of encounters between aircraft and UFOs, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ACUFO catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file.

On the coast of Denmark, in 1940:

Case number:

ACUFO-1940-00-00-DENMARK-1

Summary:

In the years 2000 - 2020, on the Web, one Marcello Soave published a list of UFO sightings which he indicated to have been compiled by Doctor Domenico Pasquariello of the Italian ufology group CEIFAN (Centro di Indagine sui Fenomeni Anomali).

Among the cases listed, it was stated that in 1940, a squadron of Royal Air Force bombers, near the coast of Denmark, was joined "by an unknown aircraft which projected very powerful lights on it with a blinding effect." It is added that the pilots ordered to "strafe the lights but the aircraft disappears in the air."

I found no other source for this story, which seems to come from a ufologist who went from the firmest conviction to total skepticism.

The report only indicates the planes were RAF bombers with machine guns.

Discussion:

Map.

CEIFAN, Centro di Indagine sui Fenomeni Anomali, is or was an Italian ufology group, led by Doctor Domenico Pasquariello, or Pasquariello Domenico, who was perhaps its only member. But in 2024, its website ceifan.org no longer exists.

On the Web, in 2018, someone explained that he had come across a Website called "Aliens and Mysteries", by "Pasquariello Domenico", described as rich in videos and photos of UFOs. This person said that he had had the opportunity to correspond by email with Domenico Pasquariello, and that the latter was "firmly convinced of the extraterrestrial reality and of all the mysteries that he covered on his site." This person added that after losing contact for about a year, he discovered a new Website in the name of Pasquariello, now called "CEIFAN" and on this Website, the same Pasquariello who had written thousands of articles in favor of UFOs and various mysteries, disavowed the whole question as "one of the most extreme skeptics with an avalanche of skeptical articles."

To this I would add that I found no other source on such an observation in 1940 on the Danish coast.

Evaluation:

Insufficient information, unknown credibility.
