Author and pionner ufologist Aimé Michel indicated in his 1958 book on the French saucer flap of 1954, as example that "false" flying saucers were easily identified as such then, that on September 23, 1954, in the department of Pas-de-Calais, a sighting was explained as being actually that of a jet plane.
