The regional newspaper La Liberté de l'Est for October 21, 1954, reported that Mrs. Celine Voirin said to have seen "last Saturday" - thus on October 16, 1954 - at 09:30 p.m. "a phenomenon that dissolved her disbelief to the myth of the saucers."
Out to study the weather, she was surprised to see a big luminous ball coming towards her, leaving behind a luminous trail, a bit elongated.
Mrs. Voirin's family did not believe her, but "she remains convinced that she has not been hallucinated and she is worried about whether anyone had seen the same appearance at the same time as her", the diary concluded.
In fact, in a large part of France, this big meteor was seen, crossing the sky that day at that hour.

Mrs. Céline Voirin claims to have been last Saturday at 09:30 p.m. the witness of a phenomenon which melted her incredulity with the myth of the saucers.
Gone outside to study the weather, she saw - nor without great amazement - come towards her, a large luminous ball leaving behind it a luminous trail, slightly lengthened.
Mrs. Voirin's family did not believe her but she remains convinced that she had not been the subject of an hallucination and she longs to know if someone else saw the same appearance at the same time as she did.
