The regional newspaper La Voix du Nord, in the local issue of Douai for October 17, 1954, reported an observation in Landas:
On October 15, 1954 at 9 p.m., Louis Bardot, a 61-year-old day laborer living in rue du Général-Leclerc, returning from his work, while he was near the Place Verte, saw in front of him a craft having the shape of a top and letting escape blue, red, yellow, green gleams.
Mr. Bardot immediately called several people who "distinguished very well this bolide heading in the direction of Bachy."
The next day, one talked about this flying top and it was said that it would have been seen by other people in the rue d'Orchies.

Mr. Bardot immediately called several people who clearly distinguished this bolide heading in the direction of Bachy.
This Saturday, it's all about this flying top that was reportedly seen by other people in the rue d'Orchies.

Bachy is located at 339° (roughly north) from Landas, 8 km away in straight line.
The information is succinct and makes me think it could have been a meteor; however, I have no other report in this region on October 15, 1954 at 9:30 pm.
