In the 2000s, a US website, referring to the first book by Jimmy Guieu, and to Jacques Vallée, indicated that on October 14, 1954, at 04:00 p.m. in Barcelonnette, France "An unidentified object was sighted", by several witnesses "for 99 minutes", "but with an appearance and behavior that most likely would have a conventional explanation."
[Ref. uda1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:
The website indicates that on 14 October 1954 at 16:00 in Barcelonnette, France "An unidentified object was sighted, but with appearance and behavior that most likely would have a conventional explanation. One object was observed by several witnesses for 99 minutes."
The sources are said to be Guieu, Jimmy, Flying Saucers Come from Another World, Citadel, New York, 1956; Vallee, Jacques, Computerized Catalog (N = 3073).

Jimmy Guieu's book "Flying Saucers Come from Another World" stops at the January 1954 sightings. The book is given as a source in [uda1], but unless there is a different US edition, is not the correct source.
I strongly suspect that this so-called observation of the 14th is actually that of October 16, 1954; which was a misinterpretation caused by a high-altitude balloon.
