The report:

Subject: Observation of object entering the atmosphère today
Date: August 6, 2005
From: [eMail]@wanadoo.fr

Hello,

I observed, this day, at 3 p.m., an "object" falling quickly and vertically into the Toulouse area.

It left behind a trail similar to a cloud in vertical position. Curiously, no more air traffic in this sector. What lets me think that it had been detected for a long time. Difficult to determine its altitude for the fall had already started when I began the observation. But an altitude similar to that of a commercial aircraft seems a match to me.

Directed 10° north, the observation lasted approximately 4 mn before the fall was dissimulated by my horizon (what lets me think that this object fell extremely quickly). No light similar to a friction in the atmosphere as meteorites do.

One hour after the plume was still visible. The air traffic became normal again (5 planes) at the end of 20 mn, right in the axis of the observed fall.

I do not know at all what that could be. One would have said a rocket tank (because of the plume) but it was certainly not a weather balloon. This object seemed rather large. Does somebody have information?

Thanks.

Note:

I contacted CNES via their email form this day August 6, 2005 to ask if this agency has something to do with the sighting or if they have an explanation.
