I made a strange observation Saturday August 30, 2008 at approximately 07:30 p.m.. I was on the beach of Villefranche sur mer when I looked in the sky towards Nice I saw a black dark form, motionless, in altitude around 500 m whereas I was towards 1km in the East.

I thought that it was about a buzzard. Seeing the immobility of the object I pointed out to the family which was at my side the strange phenomenon. They confirmed. I asked my friend (email in copy) to go get the binoculars in the car which was at 200 m.
By the time she was back the light had moved slowly towards the relief in the North. Its altitude was 800 m approximately. It was shining per moment in the setting sun.

With the binoculars I could see the shape and especially I noted that it practically did not move. It consisted of 2 parts the shape of a human silhouette of white color, alluminium and at the foot a base of orange color. The shape rotated slowly from time to time.

Being pilot of ultralight planes I am convinced that it was neither a plane, neither of a deltaplane, neither a bird, nor a montgolfier.

You can forward my message to the gendarmes and I would like to know well if other people saw this day a similar observation there.
