Subject: Sighting of ufo (?) in Aurillac, Cantal Amateur astronomer, I often look at the sky and nothing ever made me think at all of a UFO, but yesterday evening August 28, 2005 at 11:30 p.m., in Aurillac (Cantal), I saw, in company of a friend who saw the same thing, five identical "shapes" which seemed not to be enlightened by themselves but rather to be detached on the background of the sky (and perhaps present a brownish colouring?), at the same time very clear and with apparently geometrical contours (rectangular?), but not very enlightened thus not easily discernible, moving in tight formation from the North-East where they appeared to me (under the constellation of Andromède from our observation spot) towards the south-west where they disappeared, approximately skirting the Milky Way still from our observation spot (coordinates: 44° 54 ' 32 '' North and 2° 25 ' 58 '' East, approximately 700m of altitude). The night was clear, there was no moon. One of the shapes flew ahead, followed by the two others behind it forming a triangle, and again two others behind the line drawn by the one ahead and the one folloging it left (like migratory birds, by the way that was the only "other" explanation which we thought about, but since I write to you, it's because we did really not estimate to have seen birds). The trajectory of the whole was perfectly rectilinear, fast speed and no noise was perceptible (and we were in silence, far enough from the downtown area). The formation of flight of the five shapes remained perfect (the spacing, the height and the speed identical and constant one compared to the others) during the observation, of approximately ten seconds, the time it took to appear on one end of the horizon and disappear at the other (therefore extremely fast). I could not estimate the height or the size without bench marks, I can only give my impression: five rather large machines flying very quickly between a few hundreds of meters in height if they were "small" and an altitude of airliners if they were "very large"; the trajectory and speed strongly resembled those of a satellite, but the extension in the space of the five forms and their nonspecific aspect exclude this assumption, just as our impression. Planes passed regularly but on other trajectories and none were seen at the time of the observation. I insist on the fact that we are used to look at the sky, since years, that I am rather skeptic as regards UFOs (well, I did not have seen any ... yet), and that when these five shapes appeared to us, we have been immediately and during ten second of observation all seized by the very strong impression of five large flying objects very quickly and without any noise nor lighting in the lower atmosphere (it seemed to me that they were low, much lower than an airliner). With the time, the direction and co-ordinates, where to ask to know if somebody saw the same thing or would know what it was? Thank you very much. |
