Subject: Sighting Hello again Patrick here is my story Best regards [Firstname Name]
Between the 22th and the 28th of August 2005 (rather towards the 25th) in Bercenay-en-Othe (southwest of Troyes) I am on the doorstep of the kitchen; I look at a buzzard which flies over the river inhabited by coypus; I wonder whether it will dive onto a young one (direction of the glance approximately north-north-east). At this point in time I see just above the buzzard but much higher an object in the shape of a disc (it has no pattern, viewed from underneath it is not a sphere); it looked like a plane rosette of two colors: dayglo orange for the external circle, silver gray or aluminum for the interior circle. I evaluate (with no reason to tell the truth) its altitude as of 5000 m definitely higher than the small planes and the Utralight of the Troyes airfield, lower than the jets which begin their descent on Orly. It makes absolutely no noise. Its angular size: approximately a car at a distance of 700m or a motor bike wheel at less than 200m. The disc object advances rather slowly and I am not sure that it moves in straight line. It appears in «marauding». I call the family. My two sisters and my son. Only the younger sister saw it. My son is a little short-sighted and the elder of the sisters, in my opinion, does not look in the good direction (the disc is small). The object continues to advance but during a split second it offers a chromatic anomaly. Whereas it absolutely did not roll or yaw the minium orange of the external circle migrates towards the back (of the movement) and the silver gray takes its place. That lasts a half second and all returns in order (again a rosette or a target). The object now passes behind the roof. We move to go to the other side of the house and to look towards the southwest. It is my sister who saw it again first... after a few seconds (some 20 seconds) the object, in a dazzling flash (extremely luminous), disappears at a lightning speed (in fact one cannot judge speed, it is replaced by the flash). Length of the flash: approximately 3 full moons. Duration: around two minutes, rather less. We alert my father who is reading in the garden. Without getting excited he advises us to go tell it at the Gendarmerie (which we did not do). Thereafter we did not even speak about it any more between us. The event is real but too «eccentric» as far as of ordinary concerns, unclassable and apparently without incidence on the day to day life. And yet I know your website and I followed the discussions on the OVNI Science mailing list [2]. |
[1] Webmaster's note:The witness sent to me a first email related to the phenomenon UFO in general, and mentioned that he had been himslef the witness of an apparance that left him puzzled which he strangely did not report. It is on my invitation that he then kindly forwarded me the account of his observation. As I often do, I had ensured it of anonymity. His remark means that it is not the matter of the anonymity which had retained him up to now but another, stranger thing. In fact, I know this strange factor well, and porbably other investigators noticed it: there is sometimes like some weird impulse not to speak about the sighting, sometimes even during the sighting, sometimes just afterwards between the witnesses, or a long time afterwards. It seems to me that there is something which deserves study, but I do not have enough elements yet to put forth strong possibilities for the moment. Let us simply note that I often met this kind of strange "prevention", much more often when the sighting is of higher strangeness and seldom if ever when the sighting has no strangeness or ultimately finds a commonplace explanation.
