Subject: Observation report Hello, I send you a short report which I wrote following an observation of UFOS I would like to know if someone else in my area witnesses the same thing [Firstname] REPORT In the night from the 20 to July 21 2006, I was the witness of an unidentified fact. I live in the island of Oléron on the commonity of [community]. Amateur of astronomy, during this evening of skywatching, my telescope is pointed at the South-south-west in direction of the constellation of the Scorpio. At about 00:15, my eyes are drawn at 2 stars (what I initially mistook for stars) slightly on the right of the sector which I observe at this moment. Their luminosity and size increase visibly. Very surprised, I take my binocular which I have close to me. At my great puzzlement, I distinguish a slow displacement of these two « lights » towards me thus in direction of the North-East with a progressive increase in the luminous intensity. The 2 « objects » follow one another (like a formation), and seem to accelerate. I follow their perfectly linear movement (no change of direction) with my binoculars, but without managing to distinguish anything more than 2 luminous balls (being similar to Venus when it is at its maximum but a little larger). Arrived almost abovehead, the luminous intensity starts to decrease more and more to disappear from the field of my binoculars at the zenith of my position. My observation had lasted only approximately 45 seconds, but left me really perplexed as of its explanation. It seems to to me that these « objects » rose very quickly in altitude, and it is for that that the intensity of light decreased also quickly to disappear from my sight in a few seconds only (approximately 8 to 10 seconds starting from the moment when I noted the reduction in intensity). Another fact, the electronic guidance and control gear of my telescope, diplays the information « problem of a guidance motor due to a weak battery, change battery ». That can possibly be the case, but I connected the telescope to the power and there is no battery in the device. Moreover the telescope functions normally (no motor failure) and this incident is a first among my many observation evenings. Impassioned with astronomy,aviation (I am also a private pilot) and of all that relates to space in general, I am positive that it cannot be a phenomenon explanable as satellites (luminosity and formation by 2), planes or helicopters (no engine noise). If somebody that day made the same observation in the Charente-maritime area, I would sincerely hope to discuss it in order to compare our visions of the phenomenon [Firstname] [NAME] |
