Paris, 20. -- IF ONE JUDGES BY THE SMALL NUMBER OF REPORTS RECEIVED, FLYING SAUCERS HAVE BEEN RATHER INACTIVE OVER FRANCE TODAY — UNLESS THE FAD HAS PASSED.
A FARMER FROM VILLEPINTE (AUDE), MR. ROUQUET, STATED THAT HE SAW, LAST NIGHT AROUND 11:30 P.M., AN ORANGE-COLORED LUMINOUS DISC MOVING WESTWARD. THE CRAFT STOPPED, REMAINED STATIONARY FOR ABOUT FIFTEEN MINUTES, THEN RESUMED MOVEMENT AND DISAPPEARED.
A few kilometers from Villepinte, residents of Bram and Villasavary observed, between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, a luminous disc traveling very quickly and changing colors.
Near Aire-sur-la-Lys, a steelworker from the Isbergues foundry saw a round luminous object descending slowly.
"When it touched the ground," the witness continued, "about 3 kilometers from me, a flash lit up the sky."
Many residents confirmed having seen not the craft itself but the sky illuminated. As for the object that supposedly fell, no trace of it was found.
To conclude, another testimony, this one ten days old: on October 10, Mr. Roger Thiriet was heading around 6:30 a.m. to Eceuvre [sic], where he works as a supervisor at the penitentiary center, when through fairly thick fog, he saw a saucer the color of aluminum. It was about 2.4 meters in diameter and 1.4 meters high, topped with a dome and equipped with two portholes. He approached, but the craft silently lifted off.
Mr. Thiriet remained silent about the event, fearing ridicule from colleagues and villagers. Why he decided to speak now is unknown.
The Indonesian agency Antara reports that on Tuesday evening, around 9:00 p.m. (local time), the population of Bondowoso, in East Java, was struck with terror upon seeing a white and green disc pass at great speed over the town and vanish within half a minute. Witnesses described the object as a "large plate" rotating as it moved.
This is the second time the people of Bondowoso have witnessed such a phenomenon. The first appearance of a "strange object" reportedly occurred on July 25, at the same hour.
