THE MOST COMPLETE MYSTERY continues to surround the disappearance of a 19-year-old young man after the appearance of a U.F.O. (unidentified flying object) on the night of Sunday to Monday in Cergy-Pontoise in Val d'Oise (see "Sud Ouest" for Tuesday, 27 November).
The story of the "encounter of the third kind" given to the police and gendarmes by two friends of the disappeared, remains at the center of the investigation.
Police officers and gendarmes are showing some skepticism, recognizing that the witnesses "were of sound mind and body" at the time when they were interrogated.
The police did not identify any contradiction in the description that Jean-Pierre Pr vot and Salomon N'Diaye made of the disappearance of their comrade.
They confirmed their account entirely, remembering that they were finishing loading a station wagon when "appeared distinctly a luminous beam which was heading quite fast to the ground."
The police had to satisfy themselves of hearing together, then separately, the two friends of Franck Fontaine without shedding any light on his disappearance, more than ever mysterious.
And if the police are reserved, Cergy-Pontoise residents, in their majority are too. A number of them are denouncing "the staging of three young people... of undefined activities," saying that "Franck Fontaine is to be released by the Martians soon."
