The article below was published in the daily newspaper Sud Ouest, France, le 27 novembre 1979.
A YOUNG MAN aged 19 disappeared yesterday morning at Cergy-Pontoise, immediately after "the appearance of an unidentified flying object." This is at least what the two comrades of the disappeared boy told at the police station.
Anyway, the investigation initiated by the local police did not find a trace of the missing person.
It was 4 a.m., boulevard de l'Oise, Cergy-Pontoise (Val-d'Oise), where this mysterious case occurred. The young man, Frank Fontaine, 19 years old, living in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumone with his two friends, Jean-Pierre Pr vot and Salomon N'Diaye finished loading a lot of clothes in a station wagon. They were about to leave for the market to Gisors when, according to statements by Pr vot, aged 25, to the police, "appeared to them very distinctly a light beam that was heading quite fast to the ground."
Jean-Pierre Pr vot then ran to his apartment with N'Diaye to get his camera, leaving Franck Fontaine, who told them his intention to "go by car to the light."
When the young men returned with the camera - actually unloaded - the car was two hundred yards away.
Still according to Pr vot, it "was wrapped in a circular halo accompanied of three or four small spheres identical to the fog cloud."
They remained frozen a while before the show, and saw the light "disappear in streaks and silently." The two young men then approached the car. The door was open. Speed was engaged. Franck Fontaine had disappeared.
The two witnesses went immediately to inform the police station.
The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie group of Cergy-Pointoise. It is specified among investigators that there was no fog that night.
The story does not say yet what happened to the stock of clothes...
