Area law officers searched a wooded section near Marble Furnace for a downed plane Christmas Eve night until 12 p.m.
The Adams County Sheriff's Department stated a motorist and his family were travelling SR 32 and saw what they thought was a plane in a "ball of fire" go down in the vicinity of Marble Furnace.
The county sheriff, Louis Fulton, said the search party consisted of about 25 people including six highway patrolmen. Most of the search was made on foot. The sheriff said there was a jeep in the party that was driven over the log roads in the woods.
The Ohio State Patrol was to send a plane to the county Wednesday to conduct a search from the air.
