The article below was published in the daily newspaper Le Parisien Libéré, France, on January 14, 1974.
An object "shiny like a sun and circular in shape" was seen the other morning in the sky of the Yvelines by a resident of Vernouillet, Mr. James Boulanger, 46 years old, senior technician at the Chrysler establishments, France in Poissy, residing at 74, le Parc, in Vernouillet.
According to the statements that Mr. Boulanger made to the Triel gendarmes, responsible for the investigation, the craft was stopped 300 meters from the ground, above the Chanteloup-les-Vignes plain.
- No, I was not the victim of a hallucination, said Mr. Boulanger. I was driving with my son to Andrésy when I saw the craft. It was then exactly 8:14 a.m.
"This "craft" had 2 lights very still in the sky and both lit, like projectors: 2 clear, brilliant and round lights, like 2 moons very close together.
"Then, I saw a beam of light plunging towards the ground 20 to 30 times the diameter of the light spot. Then, the light on the right gradually went out, while the beam diminished in intensity, before disappearing. As for the 2nd light, it went out quickly."
Also, on the same day, at approximately the same time and 800 meters away, Mr. Pierre Amorison, living at the same address as Mr. Boulanger, saw 2 light beams very close together in the sky.
In any case, the gendarmes were not to find any trace at the scene, nor the slightest clue suggesting that the "thing" in question could have landed there, even if only for a few seconds.
