FLYING SAUCERS - SERIOUS BUSINESS. By
Frank Edwards, 314 pages. Lyle Stuart. $5.95

The Air Force has routinely characterized reports of unidentified flying objects over the United States as misidentifications of natural phenomena - sightings of planets, airplanes, marsh gas - or wishful thinking. But some trained observers are not quite sure. Some of them suspect the Air Force of covering up a very serious possibility that the U.F.O's. are visitors from other civilizations.

Frank Edwards, the radio commentator, presents a rather belligerent history of U.F.O. sightings and accuses the Department of Defense of making preposterous explanations. John G. Fuller, columnist for the Saturday Review, gives a case history for the sightings of U.F.O.'s at Exeter, N.H., on Sept. 3, 1965. He examines the evidence carefully and soberly concludes that "the most logical, but still unprovable explanation is that the unidentified Flying Objects are interplanetary spaceship under intelligent control."
