UFOs in the Poitiers area, France, 1976:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper La Nouvelle République, France, on September 18, 1976.

A NEW TESTIMONY ON THE APPEARANCE OF U.F.O...

... brought by a Poitiers merchant.

One testimony calling another, as is often the case with similar events, a new account of U.F.O. sightings was reported to us yesterday by a Poitiers merchant, Mr. Al Hashimi, residing in rue de la Cathédrale.

In our issue of September 9, we reproduced the testimony and one of the photos of Mr. Mazelier, a medical student, who, during the nights of July 31 to August 1 and August 21 to 22, had seens a huge luminous cigar moving above the Moulière forest.

Last week, another witness came forward. It is Mr. Jean-Marie Préchart, model maker at I.N.S.E.E., living in Montamisé, who claims to have seen a similar object at the beginning of the morning of September 8, also in the area of the Moulière forest.

Encouraged by these various statements, Mr. Al Hashimi decided to come and tell us about the strange observation he made around June 19 and on which, until then, he had kept silent.

It was a day when he was visiting a member of his family living in rue Alsace-Lorraine.

Around 5:00 p.m., from a window of the second floor apartment, Mr. Al Hashimi saw appear, perhaps a kilometer away, an ovoid-shaped object moving very slowly in the Poitiers sky from North to South. Its color was yellow, with golden reflections, and its dimensions difficult to estimate.

Mr. Hashimi was thus able for almost a minute to observe the move of the strange ship which disappeared on the horizon.

Thinking that many other Poitiers residents must have had the same vision and would not fail to let it be known, Mr. Hashimi had preferred to remain silent.

His testimony is to be added to the file of strange phenomena for some time in Poitiers and its region.
