UFOs in the daily Press:

UFO reports from the area of Yssingeaux, France, 1980:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper L'Eveil, France, on November 15, 1980.

The luminous object also seen in the Yssingelais

The luminous object seen Tuesday evening by several people in the Puy region (see our issue from Wednesday 12 - Thursday 13 November), was also observed in the Yssingeaux area.

Near the Lavalette dam, Mr. Mermet, a professor in Toulouse, in a second home in Berthouzis, commune of Lapte, was able to observe this luminous phenomenon.

"It was around 6:40 p.m., a craft whose shape is difficult to describe, because the halo of light concealed it, glided between Berthouzis and Montjuvin, at very low altitude, to go back up towards and perpendicular to the wall of the dam, as if it intended to land on the body of water...", said the witness. The craft was heading towards Tence.

At this moment, Mr. Mermet very clearly saw projections like the firing of white rockets, still in the direction of Tence. The craft, which had passed about 500 meters from him, glided without the slightest sound or the slightest breath and as it was very low, it quickly disappeared.

Mr. Mermet had to report the fact to the Yssingeaux gendarmerie who reported it to the competent territorial brigade of Tence.

The latter were going to collect other testimonies: that of a group made up of a young man of 19 and four children aged 12 to 13, living at Mas de Tence.

The group was able to observe the phenomenon moving between the village of Plantespinasse and the town. Witnesses had noticed four balls in the wake of the craft which, they say, had the shape of a rugby ball.

Another testimony, that of a resident of the Costaros region to whom it seemed that the luminous craft was landing on the Preyssac quarry, between Costaros and Boucher-Saint-Nicolas.
