An "unidentified flying object" was seen, Thursday evening, by several people, in the area of Saint-Chaptes, close to Uzès (the Gard).
A couple of young people from Nice, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Doucet, having alerted, around 09:30 p.m., the gendarmerie of Saint-Chaptes, made it possible for the latter to establish an official report on the observation of this phenomenon. The UFO, of an indefinable shape, because of the darkness, moved slowly at low altitude, in the north-western south-western direction, while flickering four lights of red-orange color.
Other witnesses saw the craft in the areas of Dions, Tresques and Bagnols-sur-Cèze, before it disappeared, at approximately 10 p.m., behind hills located at the east of this city.
The gendarmerie managed to establish, after investigation at the air bases of the area, that no helicopter flew at the time when the phenomenon was observed.
