Warning: the airship stories must not be taken at face value as "UFO sightings." Evaluation of such stories is under way here.
Mike Sheridan, a well-known resident of Eleventh Street, came into 'Squire Wheeler's office, on Scott Street, Tuesday morning and offered to make an affidavit that he had seen the "airship" Tuesday about 11 p.m. sailing over the corner of Eleventh and Scott Streets. Mr. Sheridan says that the airship he saw was a cigar-shaped machine, and that with its sails spread it presented a triangular outline. According to his best reckoning, the ship was about 15 feet long and only 50 feet above him. Sheridan furthermore states that he is certain he heard the working of its machinery. Mr. Sheridan is a middle-aged man of temperate habits and is not addicted to the use of stogies. He is a life long resident of Covington and possesses an untarnished reputation for veracity.
