On April 2, France Soir published this article which contains information on the corresponding UFO reports.
The UFO observed in France and in Portugal in the night of 31 March to April 1st was not a UFO: it was identified by the French Space Agency, as being the 3rd stage of a Russian rocket, Cyclone-M, which had placed the satellite Cosmos 2238 in orbit the day before, and which disintegrated while burning in the dense layers of the atmosphere. On the indications provided by NASA and the organization of north-American defense (NORAD), the Service of expertise ofof re-entry and atmospheric phenomena of the CNES has been able to calculate that the trajectory of the 3rd stage of the Russian launcher corresponded exactly to the phenomenon reported in France by many witnesses, gendarmes, civil aviation personal, observatories, between 2:10 a.m. and 2:14 a.m.
