UFOs in the daily Press:

Flying saucers in Canada, 1954:

This article was published in the daily newspaper Le Canada Français, of St-Jean d'Iberville, Quebec, Canada, on August 12, 1954.

A case file is here.

Is it a Flying Saucer?

Last Saturday evening, towards 08:30 p.m. in St-Bernard de Lacolle, very close to the property of Mr. Philippe Coupal, Mrs. Philippe Coupal and her two sons, Henri and Gabriel, saw a kind of round ball in the airs, which stopped three times very close to the house and set out again for Ottawa; as this phenomenon was only at a height of approximately 12 feet, three men who were its crew were clearly distinguished. Needless to say that the emotion was high in the surroundings, and one still wonders if it is the flying saucer that is so much spoken about, for some time. All this information was provided to us by Mr. Léo Lalanne, employee with the customs of Lacolle, who certifies of its veracity.

Here is what "La Presse" published Tuesday evening:

A FLYING SAUCER ABOVE OTTAWA

Is Canada the first country to have detected a flying saucer by means of instruments? This question is discussed in the following of a report from thee flying saucers detection station of the Ministry for Transport saying that an unknown object was located there above Ottawa on Sunday. Mr. Wilbert B. Smith, responsible of the section of the emissions and measurements of the Ministry for Transport, said that the gravimeter of the flying station saucers reacted at 03:01 p.m.
