London, July 1st. -- A B.O.A.C. pilot, Captain James Howard, an experienced Atlantic flyer who has crossed it 165 times, stated yesterday upon arriving from New York that during his flight he was accompanied for eighteen minutes by strange flying machines.
The event occurred while his Stratocruiser was about 270 kilometers from Newfoundland, at an altitude of approximately 5,700 meters. The bizarre escort, which was several kilometers away, was moving at the same speed as the Stratocruiser and consisted of a large craft that appeared to be constantly changing shape and six smaller objects.
The 11 crew members and the 51 passengers on board also witnessed the event. Experts have taken up the case.
