A correspondent who resides at Taieri Mouth has written to the the Otago Daily Times, stating that she, with her husband, saw a sight on a recent Sunday night which she thinks may have some bearing on the mysterious light reported to have been seen in the sky from Stirling. She states that being called by her husband, she went out and saw what appeared to be a ship on fire. In a few moments it seemed to sink out of sight, just as a ship would sink. They were naturally alarmed, and hastened to obtain a telescope possessed by a neighbour. By the time they had obtained it, however, all was darkness again, and they came to the conclusion that they had seen an electric light on a passing vessel.
