Two Flying Discs Reported Here

The flying disc rage was maintained in Albuquerque Wednesday with report of C. M. Conrady, Public Servive employee, that he and six others saw two of the mysterious objects in action. They were observed from a cafe in the 3700 block North Four.

Reported Conrady: The first disc seemed just to hang in the sky at a standstill. Then another one came by at great speed. The first disc then 'gave chase'. Both disappeared to the south.

Conrady guessed the altitude at 8000 to 10,000 feet. The discs appeared 12 to 15 inches wide. The discs were very bright, said Conrady. "We saw them for a period of 10 to 15 minutes."

One new disc was reported sighted in the Roswell area Wednesday by Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Brackley of Sweetwater, Tex., who spied the object about 14 miles out of town as they were driving in from a trip to the mountains at Ruidoso.

"It rolled over and over." Brackley said, and finally fell about two miles to the south side of the highway." The disc was in full view about 60 to 75 seconds."

Comments:

Both sightings are dated Wednesday, this was thus on July 9, 1947.

The first sighting is in Albuquerque. There is some strangeness to it, as the duration is impossible for meteors, unlikely for planes. One of the discs "seemed just to hang in the sky at a standstill" while the other "came by at great speed" and then "gave chase" to the first one.

The second sighting "in the Roswell area" provides us with just another "Roswell crash", as the "official" Roswell incident debris were found much earlier, on June 14, 1947, and publicized on July 8, 1947. In this sighting report, some strangeness appear: "it rolled over and over"; which suggests it was not a meteor, and is something mildly unusual for a plane. Better still, this disc "fell". Another "saucer crash"? Or just some clumsy pilot who landed?
