A sample communiqué from the SEPRA. This is about a case of Voreppe in France, witnesses videotaped an alleged UFO and reported to the Gendarmerie (the police branch of the army), Gendarmerie contacted SEPRA and they started an investigation.

An unidentified flying object located in the Isère

The National Space Studies Center [Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales] (CNES), through its Service of Expertise of Atmospheric Re-entries Phenomena [Service d'Expertise des Phénomènes de Rentrées Atmosphériques] (SEPRA, of the sub-office Exploitation and Operational Systems) made an intervention on Tuesday, September 8, 1998, upon a call by the Gendarmerie in Voreppe (Isère) following the observation of an unidentified phenomenon in the sky of this city, recorded with the help of a video-camera by one of the witnesses on Sunday, September 6, 1998.

Note: The Voreppe object was later identified by SEPRA as a balloon with an misleading unusual shape.
