Under the headline "Are aliens visiting Wigan?", Wigan Today reports that a mysterious object was seen hovering near junction 27 of the M6 in Shevington Moor last month, and that another UFO was spotted by a number of people in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
John Jones, from Ashton, was not aware of the story in the Reporter when he made his sighting, but came forward when he read about it the very next morning, saying that at about 07.30 p.m. on August 29, 2008, in a slightly overcast evening with grey clouds he saw six very dark objects in very close formation. "They were like rubber balls and they were very close together in a circle", he said.
"My son was with me and we both had a look through our binoculars. The objects were turning towards the Downhall Green area and were in sight for a good five minutes below the line of the clouds."
"They were very slow-moving but it definitely wasn't balloons and after observing them for some time they just seemed to vanish from sight."

The website of the regional newspaper "CapAcadie" reports that that "an unidentified flying object" was seen in the night from August 26 to August 27, 2008, in the area of Pointe-à-Tom, in Tracadie-Sheila, Acadia, Canada, by Jennie Losier and Pascal McGraw.
They described it as a red and blue light, in the shape of a ball, "of the size of a grapefruit", which turned above the water of the Sheila river, between midnight and 2 a.m., and then disappeared suddenly.
A dotted filament of yellowish light came doen from the "object" and went to the ground, like a serpentine swept by the wind. They tried to take photographs but the quality of the image "does not make it possible to state, without of any possible doubt, that it is indeed a UFO."
Jenny told that she already saw this in the month, that it was silent, that they panicked a little, that the ball moved and returned in less than five seconds then disappeared in the blink of an eye.

The website of the regional newspaper "CapAcadie" reports that Steeve LeBreton managed to grab clear photographs of a "luminous object" in the sky in the night from August 25 to August 26, 2008, around 2 a.m., in the sector of Bridge-Landry, not far from Tracadie-Sheila, Acadia, Canada.
He described it as a motionless orange light which shone towards the North-East,appearing and disappearing, then after he took three pictures in two minutes, the light dazed away towards the sky at a very high speed.

The regional newspaper Nice Matin talks on September 21, 2008 on page 12 about an appearance of "UFOs" in the clear sky above the boulevard of Cessole, in Nice, August 23, 2008 towards 04:30 p.m., observed by many witnesses.
These "UFOs" are described as several luminous white rounds, which moved slowly, by bunches initially, then moved away, observed during a quarter of an hour. A witness says that the "rounds were like two-euros coins, very high in the sky" and that he thought about all possible explanations, "parachutists, planes, clouds, military craft" and contacted the gendarmerie, firemen, GEPAN (official UFO investigator), CNES (Center for Space Studies), the observatory, but obtained "nothing."
A ufology old-timer already talks about "the strange phenomenon from space", whereas apparently nobody even considered checking whether the UFO weren't just a bunch of balloon reflecting the sun or a bunch of thai lanterns, these tiny hot-air balloons that caused tens of similar observations in Europe this summer.
The newspaper asks whether it could be "an optical illusion" caused by "the weather"... an explanation proferred by a local astronomer adding that this should be so at "90%" chances...
